On-Site Qualitative Software Workshops

 

 

The Host's contribution - What facilities are needed?

  • a dedicated training room with sufficient PCs or Macs (NUD*IST only) for participants to have one each. Depending on the layout of the studio, it may be possible for two people to share one PC
  • SdG tutor's PC to be connected to display equipment (high-powered data/ audio projector e.g. LitePro ) The data projector should be able to handle a resolution of 1024x768 pixels. An XVGA projector is needed.
  • all computers to have one of the following: NVIVO/NUD*IST/Decision Explorer/ATLAS.ti/WinMAX installed on the hard drive
  • SdG Associates can provide NVIVO/NUD*IST/Decision Explorer/ATLAS.ti/WinMAX software for the training ONLY but need sufficient notice in order to arrange a temporary license
  • room blackout should be sufficient for display of projected images
  • a member of the local computing support staff should be on hand, at least for the setup period
  • if your local network requires usernames/ passwords, all participants must have been issued these prior to the workshop or, as a minimum, be issued with these at the beginning of the workshop
  • if the tutor needs a temporary username/ password, please arrange for these to be issued for the duration of the workshop
  • flipchart with a new pad
  • facilities for refreshments near the training room provide directions/maps to tutor on how to reach the training room/ accommodation arrange overnight accommodation for the tutor, if necessary (en-suite facilities are appreciated)

 

SdG Associate's contribution to the workshop

  • SdG will provide for the host a training workshop in NVIVO or NUD*IST or Decision Explorer or ATLAS.ti or WinMAX software and associated qualitative computing techniques and methodologies, according to the programme agreed
  • SdG will provide a master copy of their own training material which the host will photocopy for all participants beforehand
  • SdG will, if requested in good time by the host, forward a master copy of the software required for the workshop, with installation instructions. The use of this software is governed by a license, which will be sent with the software.

 

Fees

The fee is £750 + VAT a day plus travel, accommodation and meal expenses (UK academic/ public sector rate). Travel expenses normally involve cost of petrol or return 2nd class train fare or economy rate flights (to Scotland or overseas). Accommodation is usually booked directly by the host site and invoiced direct to the host. Subsistence, if the tutor is not taken for a meal, will involve reasonable expenses for an evening meal/ lunch as necessary. Fees for commercial and overseas workshops are available on request.

SdG Associates can book a computer training room where a course will be held just for members of your organisation. Price upon application.
